Our first Holiday season is quickly approaching and we have so much Gratitude this year. Not only are we celebrating 3-months of business, but we are forging new relationships with organizations in our community. This Holiday Season we will be providing support to the Bay Area Rescue Mission located in Richmond.
As the community’s largest provider of services to those who are homeless and impoverished, the Bay Area Rescue Mission offers people the help they need to build a brighter tomorrow. Nearly half of the concentrated poverty neighborhoods in the Bay Area are in the East Bay. This means over 150,000 extremely low-income people reside in 11 cities in Alameda County and 20 cities in Contra Costa County. Our shelter is located in Contra Costa County which has a population of over 1,000,000 with over 79,000 families and over 24,000 children living in poverty. In Contra Costa County alone an estimated 15,000 people experience homelessness each year; on any given night more than 7,500 are homeless.
Beginning November 1st we will be collecting non-perishable items for a Holiday Food Drive. This will not only provide meals on Thanksgiving Day but allow low-income families to take home grocery boxes to cook their own holiday meal. We will have a barrel in the Salon through November 23rd to collect the following items:
Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes
Stuffing Mix
Canned Meats (tuna or chicken)
Canned Vegetables (corn, green beans, peas)
Cranberry Sauce
Cooking Oil
Coffee
Pancake Mix and Syrup
Sugar, Honey, Spices
Dry Cereal
We appreciate your support in creating a lasting relationship with this wonderful organization and look forward to sharing our first Holiday season with the community at Raven & Rose.
